Dairy Queen has been supplying brain-freezes for a long, long time. The company is a leading franchisor of frozen treat stores with more than 5,900 quick-service restaurants, most of which operate under the Dairy Queen banner. Popular DQ ice cream treats include Blizzards, sundaes, and cones. Many of the stores also serve burgers, fries, and other items. In addition to its flagship chain, has about 700 Orange Julius locations offering blended fruit drinks and a small number of Karmelkorn stands that feature popcorn snacks.




Royal Shakes

The Dairy Queen system is kicking off the summer 2013 season in June with the addition of cool treats called Royal Shakes in the following flavors:

  • Mint Chip Shake - which has bits of mint and chocolate blended with milk and vanilla ice cream then garnished with whipped cream and drizzled with chocolate syrup.
  • Caramel CheeseQuake Shake - which has caramel and cheesecake pieces blended with milk and vanilla ice cream then garnished with whipped cream and drizzled with caramel sauce.
  • Oreo Shake -  which has Oreo cookie pieces blended with milk and vanilla ice cream then garnish with whipped cream and Oreo cookies.

DQ Copycat Recipe

Serves 2

2 cups mint chocolate chip ice cream 
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons nondairy whipped topping for topping
1 tablespoon mini chocolate chips for topping (or chocolate syrup)

Combine ice cream and milk in blender, blend until smooth. Pour milkshake into 2 glasses. Top with whipped topping and chocolate chips and or chocolate syrup.

DQ Copycat Recipe

Serves 4

3 cups vanilla ice cream
6 ounces cream cheese
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
whipped cream, for garnish
caramel syrup, for garnish

In two batches if necessary, blend together ice cream, cream cheese, milk and vanilla in a blender until smooth, 1 to 2 minutes. Pour into 4 glasses.  Top with whipped cream and drizzle with caramel sauce.

DQ Copycat Recipe

Serves 4

12 Oreo cookies
1 1/2 cups milk
2 cups vanilla ice cream, softened
2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
whipped cream, for garnish
Oreo cookie bits, for garnish

Chop or coarsely break cookies. Place milk, ice cream and chocolate syrup in blender container. Add chopped cookies and blend on high speed until smooth. Pour into 4 glasses. Top with whipped cream and bits of Oreo cookies.
